Hello all, Been off the list awhile but was able to get back on. Anyway, is the 3rd and last track of Zorn's Harras cd have a long silence in the middle (app. 4 min) or is mine defective? Secondly, did anyone see the lineup of Ken Vandermark's festival in Athens,Ga. in the beginning of April? If you go to jazztimes.com and go to archived news you can check it out. Atomic, School Days, v5, Peter Brotzmann 10tet, Joe Morris, Maneri Trio, and many others. 4 days of good stuff. Anyone else going? John Threadgould

hi all, these are just some thoughts... I think that what happend in Germany fifty years ago... is so horrible that there are no words that can describe or make it understand. And ... for me... it's even worse that it was "planned" in the "civilized, ancient" Europe and not by monsters but by human beings. few years ago I visited a "concentration camp" Terezin, near Prague. It was used to "demonstrate" to the "rest of the world" that people there were just working, teaching and also making money! at that time also they were also movies to prove the evidence! something like(if I am correct), three thousand children lived there... can you imagine?? three thousand children! and they left their drawings... made with any kind of material. and also homosexuals, communists, artists, everything that was "different" from the "myth" of the perfect race. The nazis.. some of them are still alive, some are born again... we know some of them live in South America, even Europe, and there are also in the USA... so we really never know. We must not forget. But we must "remember" also all the "examples" around us... Argentina, Chile... Russia... not to say the "blood" of Africa... and our creature, "the fight against terrorism" which gave the right to start any War... anywhere... at any cost??? It was not many years ago that Saddam Hussein or Bin Laden were "friends" of the west we did not care of the "Kurdi" situation... or the right of the Palestinian also to have their own land, or the women in Afghanistan or in many countries of the world? Money, Gold, Diamonds, Oil, Technology, Knowledge, POWER... are these are the hidden reasons which make us create our destiny??? As a woman, I believe in peace, I dream of a world without barriers, all part of the same "race": the human race (as Charles Mingus knew well), a rainbow race, black, yellow, brown, white, pink ... or whatever color may come one day ... but we need to work hard for this... we need to give hope and save the children smile.
