L2TP with IPSEC

Hi, I'm trying to set up a tunnel L2TP with IPSEC between the HARC (LAC) and a router cisco (LNS). When I test a connexion a have the following error on the cisco : CRYPTO-4-RECVD_PKT_NOT_IPSEC: Rec'd packet not an IPSEC packet. I launched the monitor protocol L2TP on the HARC, the tunnel didn't establish. the router did not reply to the L2TP start session request. I didn't know which parameter a forget on the HARC. Is there a command to enable the IPSEC? I created the policy file and active it. I applied the policy file to an user. Thanks, Yan

I think those Dells (and others) have Connexant V.92 modems, which don't work well with our Total Control stuff. V.92 / TCS 4.7 Question

Full of questions tonight :-) Just noticed the following on modemsite.com: 15-Nov-02 - 3Com/Commworks releases improved V.92 code. TCS Release 4.7 was made available on 13-Nov at <http://totalservice.commworks.com/> Commworks' Total Control site for the TC1000 RAS. Commworks indicates this release will support PCM upstream rates as high as 36,000bps. (The only other RAS vendor that includes PCM upstream support at this time is Patton.) In addition, the new Commworks code includes improved V.92 support that will help with GSTN cleardown, retrain, and rate-shift problems. Does TCS 4.7 make a difference with V.92 that customer might notice? Or were the same improvements made in the latest update to TCS 4.5? I was under the impression that 4.7 didn't make a big difference as far as how it handles V.92. But if that's not the case I'd really like to know. Thanks, Joel

Thanks! We also had a Patton and sent it back. It was SLOW, and no PCM Upstream with anything we tried. The only client modem we've seen that says it supports PMC and has software to control it is USR's Performance Pro modem. I'm in a rural area, town of about 10,000. We have a lot of out-of-town customers, as well as in-town customers with poor phone lines. I would guess that an average of 38K for me would be a good day. I get a LOT of 26400's and 24000's. With my equipment, I would say it's almost always phone line related. I have two phone lines in my office I use to test modems, phone line A and line B. Line A always gets about 45K, Line B always gets 49-50K. This holds true regardless of what computer/modem combination I put on them. If a customer gets only 24K, I can usually plug them into one of my lines and get the same results. Line Quality Question

An interesting issue I've discovered. Here's the situation: I have a computer with a hardware-based US Robotics 33.6K modem. If I dial up to my rack on an analog phone line connected an analog nic of a Quad V.34 Dig/Analog modem, I get 33.6K EVERY time. In fact, EVERY SINGLE time I get 33.6K, no matter how many times I dial. With the same computer, same modem, same phone line connected to the computer, if I dial up to one of my Hiper DSP's, I can't get better than 28.8, and usually 24K or 26400. Does this mean that signal quality on the T1's into my Hiper DSPs isn't as good as a regular POTS line? How should I interpret this? Is this anything I should be concerned about? Just curious.
