Is Cale often covered at all? I wouldn't be surprised if his songs weren't. It brings up his percarious position between mainstream and avant-garde. His music is too weird for a pop singer to cover (ie Sinatra) and just not out there enough for a avant-garde group to take on. They both miss out; he writes some really killer songs--which comes to fore on Fragments of a Rainy Season. Any song (or artist, for that matter) that can stand up in such a spare arrangement, has to be good. I particularly like the solo "Fragments of a Rainy Season." There's a gorgeous version of "Paris 1919," which has one of my all-time favorite choruses, really jaunty and haunting (it even has a ghost in the lyrics) at the same time. I'm surprised nobody seems to have covered it. Parry

I don't think he is invovled with Boredoms in anyway anymore. There is several different stories about why he left the band, BTW. Only thing I know is that he seems to still be friends with Yamamoto, the Boredoms guitar player. He plays quite often at his club in Osaka and supposedly a special CD with Grind Orhcestra meets Omoide Hatoba (Yamamoto's long defunct band) is waiting to be released. at the Naked City show April 27, 1991 Washington DC Late show, Zorn introduces "Louange A L'eternitä De Jesus" (one of my fav pieces of all time) & says it's from an album coming out soon, called "Grand Guignol" which will feature this & other arrangements, plus a 20min song that Diamanda Galas will scream on.... does anyone know about this & what happened to Diamanda not being on "G.G" in the final master?? thanks Andrew

Mit (fart) Gas

C'mon, let's be honest. How many of you would listen to Mit Gas if Patton wasn't singing on it? I rest my case... Face it - not everything Patton does is "genius." I'll be the first to admit that I adore some of his projects - but Tomahawk IS commercial (not that there is anything wrong with that) and (to me) the album fails to inspire anything but removing it from the CD player. If I want to hear music like that I'll just turn on my Pop Radio station. Personally I feel it's just a disappointing album on many levels. DOA. I hope Fantomas doesn't fall prey to this type of silliness as well. ..and I'm not saying Tomahawk should be Fantomas or Mr. Bungle, but don't try to be foo-fighters either. At least they could TRY and be their own band with an original sound. Mit Gas sounds like pandering to radio to me. (okay, so a couple of songs wouldn't make radio) Do I hear a "single" on this album?
