I can't remember who asked the original question, but here goes:
1. Fennesz: I've got 'Endless Summer', 'Hotel Paral.lel', and 'plus forty
seven degrees...', which are solo, and then the Polwechsel + Fennesz and
the MIMEO w/ Fennesz, and also 'The magic sound of Fenno'berg' (Fennesz,
O;Rourke, Rehberg) and the
dafeldecker/kurzmann/fennesz/o'rourke/drumm/siewert on Charhizma. Of the
solo discs, the only one that i've come back to repeatedly has been
'Endless Summer'. Of the others, I used to listen to 'The magic sound of
Fenno'berg' quite a bit - it's very playful (they mess around with led
zepplin and john barry (from diamonds are forever), for example, and there
is a funny speak-and-spell bit about hamburg). The Charhizma disc is
quite nice.
2. Grubbs: I have only one Grubbs solo disc - 'The spectrum between'. It
basically sounds like a Gastr del Sol disc. I was a bit surprised,
because I for some reason thought of O'Rourke as the driving force behind
the 'Gastr del Sol sound', but I guess I was wrong. Whatever the case, I
sometimes put it on when I'm in the mood for that type of music (otherwise
it's usually Gastr del Sol 'upgrade and afterlife' that gets played...).
over and out,
