Imation CDs give me trouble in my car, too. They play, but after awhile this annoying scraping sound becomes audible. I think it gets louder the closer to the outside of the CD you get. I don't know if it is burned CDs in general, Imation, or just that my car is old. My car is a '94, with the original stereo/CD player--designed in the blissful days before widespread digital music piracy.
