I do agree, Alistair. It seems that not many people are interested in discussing about Zorn. Anyway, considering he doesn't come to England so often I thought it was a shame to come all the way here to present a music he does not like to play live! Marc Ribot: Shoe String Symphonettes (A lot of Ribot purists think this is one of his strongest, most diverse, most adventurous releases but I find myself listening to all of his other albums far more freqently.) Elvis Costello: For The Stars (Due to Anne Sophie von Otter's presence this is not strictly an "Elvis Costello release," but he produced it, sang back-ups, wrote half the songs and put himself on the cover, so it's eligible. Listened to it a number of times to give it a fair shake, but just couldn't warm to it.) Uri Caine -- Blue Wail. Not that I would necessarily want Wynton to be excluded by avantsters after recording free jazz, and not that I necessarily want Wynton to record free jazz, but he may deserve it, given his own definition of jazz. I do however think that the avant scene is largely codified, at least with regards to jazz. Boy, I just love Henry the Human Fly. Nobody's Wedding, Twisted, Shakey Nancy, Roll over...I just love those bargain bins, one man's trash, another man's treasure. How about The Hampton Grease Band's Music to Eat?, Or Kevin Coyne's Sugar Candy Taxi?, I end up with too many copies for $.99. I hate overproduced albums, actually low-fi is what I look for, but I like Daniel Lanios? In any case I was very disappointed with much of the Fairport Convention's output after the early break in the band.
