Mark your calendar for early evening May 7. Their will be a close encounter between the Ring nebula and periodic comet 73P. The comet will be close to earth so its exact position in the sky will depend stongly on your location on the globe. Go to spaceweather.com and use the link at the bottom of the page for "Observable Comets". 73p is in the list and includes orbital elements and a link for daily ephemerides. Hi all. I am also offering my Losmandy G-11 mount with Gemini goto computer. This mount has carried my scopes for every image I have ever posted on this forum or on my website. It is a proven performer, with excellent goto capabilities and computer control through "The Sky" and many other programs. I hesitate to sell this but I am looking lustfully at a new Paramount MX and building a larger imaging scope. It has an upgraded precision worm gear, upgraded clutch knobs, upgraded weight stop, and it has been cleaned and maintained to perform beautifully. The price is $2300 with the heavy wooden tripod. I was just looking through my observing log and noticed that I've had the observatory open about 110 nights since the first of March and that on none of those nights did I experience a single event of dew on the scope's corrector plate. I don't remember having made it through any other spring and summer before without dew. It really has been dry this year. So what are my chances of making through this coming winter with no frost? (not good) patrick
