Pamlico Sound Avon NC

OK so we booked a vacation home right on the sound with a boat dock and a yard for our two dogs. We will be in NC week of Sept 11 to 17 th. Any Montgomery sailboater's live in the vicinity or are interested in sailing down at the Sound. I am pretty sure my dock can accommodate another boat or two, We'd love to sail with Montgomery folks down there. Let me know Another Wrinkle M15 #616. M15 Rudder

OK, I took apart my tiller/rudder assembly and swapped blades. The Ida sailor blade looks to be about 6 inches longer, but a tad narrower. The angle of attack is more round. It weighs 15 lbs. The standard rudder has the elliptical angle of attack with the flat exit as described by Jerry in his article. It weighs about 9 lbs. What a difference. The lift assembly can hold it up without difficulty. The Ida sailor blade would not stay up if the thing is out of the water. Can't wait to try it out. Should make for easier launching and retrieval, since I can put the rudder on while still on the trailer. I expect the performance will be good, with a lighter feel. We'll see. Daniel

Since 2006 this boat has taken me on some great voyages, camping trips, and brought good friends together for excellent day sailing. It's time to let her go to the next proud owner to enjoy. The Science of Whale Flippers

Here is an article from the Mechanical Engineering magazine that may be of interest. It describes how bumps on whale fins reduce drag. http://tinyurl.com/Whale-Fins If that link doesn't not work, search for "Whales" and "ASME". The bumps are on the "wrong side" of the fin from a conventional wisdom perspective. They allow a higher angle of attack before stalling. Unfortunately this is useful only in limited circumstances. Its killing me to see this deal on the table and not want it J Told Bob Eeg if I had seen this boat before Stan's it would have been mine, don't get me wrong I like what I just bought and plan to go sailing Friday for her shakedown cruise. But here is what is killing me: M 17 $17,320 Trailer $1980 Surge brakes $1200 (Bob said so) Extra sails about $550 Gear about $300 3.5 hp Nissan about $1200 Folks this adds up to $22,550 for what would be a new boat and the used one looks PRISTINE to my eye and $18,500 for a two season old yacht is killing me to see here not sold yet.
