LED bow light

I am seeking parts for my ongoing renovation project and spotted a big sale: Defender has Aqua Signal Series 31 LED Bicolor lights as a "special buy" in the Clearance dept. Click on "Clearance" and scroll down and you will see them for $35, which seems like a great deal. I think these have been replaced with Series 32 -- the difference I note is Series 31 is rated for 1 nm visibility and Series 32 is 2 nm (also 1W vs. 3W). Maybe they aren't bright enough...? I am thinking about upgrading to LED lights when I work through the electrical system, and this seems like it would be a good choice for a bow light. Or maybe not -- anyone try these?

I know there are some sailors here from the northeast. Any interest in meeting this summer in the fingerlakes? Canandaigua Lake has a nice state park with ramps on the north end with a nice hotel right next door. Keuka Lake has a nice state park with ramps and camping sites. Winter does eventually end in upstate NY.

My experience with attempting to bend tubing is that , for me anyway, stainless steel tubing was impossible to do manually. It was just too strong. I made my bimini and dodger for Dauntless from aluminum tubing. Stainless is definitely preferred as it is much more rigid, but it is much much more difficult to work with (and expensive) if you don't have a true tubing bender. The other challenge with the conduit bender is trying to both ,match the amount of bend, and more importantly, getting the two bent ends parallel. Looks like it should be easy...but for me...no. :-) On the dodger I took old bent bimini frames that were thrown away as junk...I cut the curved sections out of them and spliced them together with straight sections of tubing...that way I didn't have to bend anything. Our local scrap yard had a ton of bent bimini frames in a tub to be recycled and sold a couple to me for pennies on the dollar compared to buying new tubing....I cut the good sections out and then used 3/4 tubing to splice 7/8 tubing together.
