Drilling through the hull?

Hello All, I am now ready to drill through my hull to setup the jib downhaul. I am quite nervous about messing up this beautiful boat so I am asking for comments on the best epoxy and procedure to use to do this. Jerry, I have the 135 Thetford portapottie installed and it fits perfectly, of course you have to have the plywood cover supports turned up and not down, like I did. Mark, That boat was owned by a fellow named Wally and he was somewhere in Florida. I believe that was one of the first boats Bob built. I think the boat was sold but I dont know who bought it. If all fails maybe Bob can provide Wallys phone and you could contact him. Hope this helps Gary

Hello All, Does anyone know who owns the boat on the first page of the MSOG webpages. The boat I'm referring to is the M17 with the Green sunshade furling headsail. Hi Don, Be nice to him! Hang a small pail on a line over the stern of the M15 during the race, so that he is not too humiliated. Winning means just nosing over the finish line ahead of him; you don't want to leave him hull down under the horizon! Connie

Hi Larry, You are so right..........! Just think of the cost / pleasure ratio with an M15 / M17. Reasonably low initial costs; low maintenance cost; low or nonexistent fuel costs; high pleasure factor. Then think Cigarette: High initial boat cost High fuel costs High marina costs High maintenance costs High bikini clad girlfriend upkeep costs High gold chains, bracelets and tan cost for owner ..............and all they can do is go from Marina A to Marina B at 50 knots ...........Whee, ......... so that they can plug into the fuel hose and the electrical umbilical cord again. Your "I'm right where I want to be" sums it up perfectly! ...........and another joy of an M15 or M17 is that we can go places where the Cigarettes can't go - and if we find too much noise there, and not enough solitude - well, it's easy enough to move somewhere else............ We'll find out next year. A Guy from the TSBB was looking for an M-15 but bought a new (Centerboard) CP-16 instead. He and I will race on the BEER 2005 Regata. By then I'll have the new (RED) 150 Genny rigged and tweeked. Fair winds. Don M-15 Sweet Dream

Gary and all, Yes, it was a very strange experience, but somehow appropriate for sailing. One has time to tune in to what's around you without being distracted by where you're headed in a big hurry. Time to "be" where you are. As I was sailing up the thoroughfare to the upper lake a couple weeks ago, barely moving at all, a powerboat idled by and a lady on board ventured to say "Looks like you're getting nowhere fast." I smiled and replied "That's OK, I'm right where I want to be." It seems to me that they're the ones "getting nowhere fast". As far as experiencing a M17, there's the Potter/Monty rally coming up in a couple weeks at Farragut State Park on Pend Oreille Lake. It officially starts on Friday the 20th and runs through Sunday the 22nd, but some of us will be there early. Randy Graves is launching Weds., and I'll be there Thurs eve. or Fri. morning. A few other Montys are possibly coming. I don't know how many Potters. Should be fun. You can write me for more details at leyake(a)juno.com, or contact Randy Graves at RandyG(a)cite.nic.edu.
