Below, it says about no re-issues from either of these two, but i think Bill was behind the 1987 repress and thinking of it, it follows that they were behind others... circa 2000, what lame wad would do a copy of 1987 and not just scan it in and tidy it up, i think the mistakes are there to make it more boot leggy. I can sympathise with Paul's comments about the prevalence of the digital sound files taking some of the shine off collecting. That said it has allowed me to hear things I'd searched for and never found. I got into the KLF after hearing the chart stuff, but it was the more laid back tracks like No More Tears, Build A Fire which grabbed me after copying A mates White Room LP. Like others I was intrigued by all the back catalogue which was all news to me (though I was only setting out on my life's musical journey being an 18 year old student). Then my stoner mates discovered Chill Out and it became a soundtrack to our Smoking sessions throughout 1990-1. I recall clearly listening in the dark to it for the first time and the noise of the car starting up startling me from the purple haze. We also used to drive up to Machen mountain At night And gaze down upon the twinkling lights of Newport with Chill Out Reverberating in our ears. I snapped up the stuff in the shops until their demise and disappearance as the 90's wore on. I managed to get a lot of the rarer vinyl like Space, WTIL (Virtual Reality/Echo remixes) at local record fairs. I bought my promo copy of Space in 1992 and still paid £20 for it then even though it was quite soon after its release. It was an agonising decision as I had little money for extravagances like that as a student, and I had no idea what is sounded like. And in all the subsequent years of record hunting I never saw another copy until the recent bootlegs. I also picked up the Record Collector article, Select article and Pete Robinson zines as they were published. As far as 3AM is concerned, I can't help noticing that sleeve notes on "Shag Times" describe the Abba-office shenanigans in Sweden happening at 3 AM - I wonder if that was a reference? After all, both "Burn the Bastards" and "Build a Fire" seem like references to that event. I think the Echo & The Bunnymen mix is also available on one of the "Indie Top 20" compilations. In fact, if memory serves me right, two other rarities (KSTJ 7" and KLF8R b-side) are also compiled in that series. Okay, so the b-side also turns up on the CD single - but it's nice to see it compiled. John PS - What was the earliest CD compilation appearance of B & J? Would it have been "Tardis", or maybe something earlier.
