The "Barndance Boys" look great, but not particularly "KLF-y". They remind me a bit more on Frank Sidebottom (a curious post-punk act that involved a man pretending to be a postman whilst wearing a huge papier mache head) or the early TV comedy shows of Vic Reeves. It's all very "northern", in its love of all things dowdy in light entertainment, and seems to come from a sensibility that's a bit different to Bill and Jimmy's grand schemes ... but that's not to say there's no connection. Rikki and Daz's scam of selling off white-labels of their debut single, on the other hand, seems VERY Bill and Jimmy. Plus, of course, there's the "guest vocal" from a country and western great. It'll be interesting to see whether the single does anything - although I fear that the line dancing boom went bust a few years ago ... Anyone remember the Rednex, by the way? The KLF: Thw White Room Portishead: Dummy Black Dog Productions: Bytes Tricky: Maxinquaye Art Of Noise: Daft (I know it's not on the list but has almost the same tracks the "Who's Afraid" album.) Björk: Homogenic The Orb: The Orb's Adventures... Massive Attack: Blue Lines KLF should be the first on that list. (Or the second,behind Kraftwerk's ANY album.) Chemicals should be dropped from it and replaced with Genaside II. I don't know what New Order and Aphex have in common. >>> (uk and wales only) England and Wales, surely. ;-) John PS - When Scotland got its own parliament, there was talk of tax concessions for bands/acts which were "Celtic" or "traditional" in flavour (much like Blair's extra dole money, as long as the music you made was deemed commercial - dull Britpop, basically). This concession would have totally ignored bands like Primal Scream, Travis (spit) or Boards of Canada - and thankfully the idea never got beyond the talking shop stage. But it does prove that insane legislation, and ways of making money from people's fragile creativity, are always just round the corner.

1. Does anyone know when this Black Smoke albums coming out? 2. Is there anywhere I can download all of Bill & Jimmy's live gigs in MPEG video format (particuarly the Paradiso gig). 3. Is Bill up to anything at the moment because I wrote a letter to him using The K Foundation address and hav'nt heard anything yet? 4. Is there a Bill & Jimmy MP3 archive on the internet anywhere? 5. Where can I download a Mp3 of The Magnificent from? On the Channel 4 Music teletext page here in the UK, on the Feedback page (Page 162) a few people have been writing in to say that the music industry needs The KLF. Think about it, we need something that complex in music, this Pop Idol shit needs to be stopped and Bill & Jimmy are better than anybody.

Hi all, A few months ago i read about the new government licensing bill proposals/changes being brought in this year (uk and wales only) that will affect musicians and music lovers alike.Under the new law any performance of live music is seen as licensable. Under the old laws soloists/individuals and duo's could play weather the pub/club/bar had a license or not.Now everyone is deemed licensable.Licensee's could face 6 months in prison or a Â£20,000 fine as penalty for breaking the law.
