GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users. Finally! I have been making time to try to get popular anchorages on www.gslmarina.com I finally have the first two up on the website. Each page includes a chart, description of the anchorage, how to best approach, where to anchor, what to do, etc. The first two are Eardley and Antelope Island Marina. Please check them out at www.gslmarina.com highlight the RESOURCES tab and then click NAV on the drop down menu. On the left hand side you will see Anchorages and Marinas. Take a look at them. Critique them. I want your feedback. Parking Lot & Sewer

GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users. On Tuesday, August 26th, the construction crew will be shutting off the sewer once again. They will also be digging up the parking lot in two areas. Both digs will be large and will cause some parking issues. It will NOT stop you from being able to get to the marina or utilize the north and south parking areas though. The restrooms will be closed again for a large part of Tuesday. Please plan accordingly. Hopefully this will be the last major interruption to our facilities. Harbormaster

Tom Tenny's 50th

Marina Restrooms

Ranger Bob's 50'th birthday party

GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users. Next Saturday is Ranger Bob's 50th birthday. His wife is holding him a SURPRISE party at the marina at noon. All are invited. This is the perfect time to roast him. REGISTRATION WARNING!!!

GSL Slip Renters. It's that time of year again. The rangers will be walking the docks in the next few days checking for registration and display compliance of registration stickers. They WILL be issuing citations. If you haven't registered your boat or if you haven't quite gotten those new year stickers on your boat please do so ASAP. Faxing your current registration to the marina office will not help either. The current year AND month stickers MUST be on the hull of the boat. Please DO NOT email me or call me if you haven't registered your boat or displayed the proper sticker. There is NOTHING I can do about it. I am NOT law enforcement. Harbormaster

Deep Channel

GSL Slip Renters, It is our intention to pull the rest of the buoys from the Deep Channel Path by the end of this weekend. Hopefully all of you are now using the shorter Reef Channel path. There is at least 5.5 feet of water over the reef near the marina now with almost 8 feet of water over the Reef Channel Path. I see no reason to maintain the Deep Channel Path at this time. The buoys are expensive and hard to keep anchored on the reef. We will keep the Reef Channel path established through the year. It is unlikely we will put the Deep Channel path back in this year unless the water level drops more than I expect it will. Harbormaster

WIND WARNING

GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users, Looking at the charts for the next few days it is likely at this point that we will be issuing a Hurricane Force Warning for tomorrow. The angle of the wind is a little tricky but it does look like northern Utah will take a direct hit from a cold front approaching. At this time it appears the Great Salt Lake Marina could see gusts above 75mph, with the upper part of Great Salt Lake seeing some sustained winds in the low 40's with gusts in the upper 50's. Is your boat ready for wind? Are our furlers wound tight? How are your dock lines? Do you have loose objects that could turn into projectiles? We have issued a Gale Force Warning for today. Rattlesnakes in the marina

GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users In the last few days there have been two sightings of rattlesnakes in the marina. One sighting was of a Western Diamondback. The other snake was not clearly identified but was rattling. These are the first two confirmed sightings in over 20 years. I'm guessing the high water is moving the snakes from the brush along the beach into the marina. Obviously rattlesnakes are very poisonous and can cause serious injury or even death if not treated. Yet rattlesnakes are very shy of humans and will slither away. They only become aggressive when they feel threatened. If you see a snake, any kind of snake, leave it alone and report it immediately. Know where your children are at all times. Keep a close eye on your pets. Harbormaster.
