frisell unironic ?

Having re-subscribed for a few bucks a year, I was pleasantly surprised to read a great article about the "unironic" Mr. Frisell in the current issue of The Atlantic. The author left out key recordings and collaborations, likely a reflection of the larger fan base Frisell has picked up over the past few years. As a long time fan, understood - I started listening to Frisell for his surf-sonic death-twang licks with Naked City. Now I'm enjoying for the sonic twang. Bob still playing: Coleman Hawkins, Dali

I've a single copy of the original Hatology double CD release (includes annoying cardboard sleeve with cartoons pix!) If anyone is interested, please reply off list (highest bidder perhaps? I've no idea what this thing is worth. $26? Hey, its almost a classic.) Hi, After the disappointed show of Stangl the last week, i finally went to the Butcher/Edwards show, and this was another very different thing. The spectacular sound of this duo is simply incredible,The frightening technique of Butcher amaze me from the first note and mixed with the brutal sonority of Edwards striking the bass and playing with a very high virtuosism .It was more than a typical improvisation,it was a magical climax, Butcher explores all the possible sonorities of the sax in an spectacular way, brutal but with coherence,is very difficult to explain this, you have to listen it.I'm still amazed. These studio and live versions provide an intense and challenging listening experience which is quite distinctive as the personnel at this time were Zorn's close friends and allies, who understood the complexities of this often riveting game piece. There is that same attention to detail that Zorn demands of all of his collaborators, hence Zorn freaks will hear that same underlying current/focus that is at the center of all the versions, notably the recent Tzadik 'Cobra' release Anyways, don't miss out!
