Rock documentaries make you want to view the real thing

I lost the posting of the guy/ girl complaining about rock documentaries. The 3 minute fragments shown there just make you mad, and what's worse, those documentaries are mostly made up out of other, older rock documentaries (Even Beatles Antology has huge portions of existing documentary editing in there!). there's this tiny fragment of the early electric Miles Davis (with Keith Jarrett) in really bright quality that makes me keep my TV set. I still hope one day, one day,this concert will get a re-run, or a dvd release. Then of course, there's the scarse Zappa, Zorn, Coltrane, Mingus/ Dolphy, Pastorius and early James Brown footage and so on and on and on. music documentaries are teasers. Remco

Is it that time of the year again? =) Since the semi-annual Zornlist Summer Reading List thread hasn't started, I'll get the ball rolling this year. So here's a list of stuff I hope to get to read (in alphabetical order): - Jake Arnott's "The Long Firm" - Mark Danielewski's "House of Leaves" - Samuel Delany's "Dhalgren" - M. Gira's "The Consumer" - Iain Sinclair's "White Chappell, Scarlet Tracings" So, which should I read first? =) And something for your reading lists: Alan Moore's novel "Voice of the Fire" -- a secret history, told in interrelated vignettes, of some section of England that I can't remember. =) "Voice of the Fire" is equal parts Russell Hoban, Peter Ackroyd, T.E.D. Klein (and, I'm told, Sinclair) -- and, of course, Moore's previous work (particularly "From Hell" and "Promethea"). Later, Ben p.s. "Whity" and "Pioneers in Ingoldstadt" are out on Fantoma, "Querelle" is out on Columbia, and "The Merchant of Four Seasons" and "Fox and His Friends"" will be released this month. I don't the distributor, but the video rights for these two and the three mentioned in the message below are owned by New Yorker Films, who told me years ago that Fox Lorber had bought up the rights for their Fassbinder films. I have been searching for news of the 2002 Fassbinder retrospective that Ulli Lommel mentions on his commentary to "Whity" (20th anniversary of F's death?), but maybe this got shelved? If you find out more info, I'd love to hear more.
