... and which one cannot listen to with a "regular" CD player. So not only will one have to pay for the AMAZINGLY artificially inflated price of the SACDs themselves, but one will have to fork for an AMAZINGLY artificially expesnive player. It may be nice, it may sound AWEXOME, but, well, the last thing I need is for a probably 50-70sud boxed set to suddenly come with a 200usd sticker + a new appliance. No thanks. "Plain old CD" will do just fine. If you just so happen to live the USA, you pick up one of the least expensive SACD players in the world for barely $ 200 US dollars. Replacing your entire collection. Hot going to happen. But I'll tell all of you, Pink Floyd's "Dark Side OF The Moon" is friggen amazing. Especially because it is also in 7.1DD

...like I said. <daffy duck splutter> TWO HUNDRED SAMOLIANS!!?? </daffy duck splutter> Yeah, bro. I'll get right on that.
Replacing your entire collection. Hot going to happen. Buying a TWO HUNDRED DOLLAR appliance just to listen to the occasional odd release on SACD? Also not going to happen.
Releasing remasterd Yello on SACD? MAJOR marketing mistake. Yello enjoys a narrow enough fanbase. Release as SACD would effectively tank sales. --gcr
I think that most of those that throughly enjoy YELLO already have the necessary HARDWARE to make full use of SACD. I don't have a player, but in the current upgrading of Home CD?DVD?DVDR/RW...AAC, MP3..CODEC... your next unit will probably have what you need. I would rather have a 5.1 disc, for more of that SURROUND SOUND, and I bet that BORRIS would have a ball remastering his work in that format, as he is such an expert at placing all his voices in regular STEREO already. I'm sure he would enjoy the challenge, and the ability to place more voices in new locations, and the ability to separate the different sound frequencies for cleaner reproduction without the need for your own cross-over and other utensils to get the most out of your home stereo. Image the current helicopter at the start of BLENDER, now imagine it in a true surround ambience, WOW! I can hardly wait! I still remember listening to STATION TO STATION, by David Bowie, in the 70's version of surround sound; 'QUADRAPHONIC'. That was truly amazing in it's era (day). The sound of the Steam Locomotive aurally went completely around you. Laurens van Graft The Grip Guy All your gymnastics grip needs right here! Hey, I was also thinking about Quadraphonic, but am as usual behind on replying to emails and checking links and listening to stuff and etcetcetc. But I never got to listen to quadraphonic, I think I was kind of poor and had only poor friends. I'm not sure but I know I had heard of it but never heard it. Isn't it nice when you're a little kid and you don't know if you're poor because playing "Kitchen" in the dirt in the flower bed, making mud pies, is about as much fun as you could ever want? And having grown up in West Texas as a child, we used to catch and play with Horny Toads (horned lizards)and feed them red ants for fun. Now they are endangered. What a trip! it kind of makes you wonder when we will be out-dated and obsolete, and I shudder to think of what we'll be replaced with, (as a ray of hope, listen to "FLOWERS" by Talking Heads, that might help Laurens van Graft The Grip Guy All your gymnastics grip needs right here! I also did say a Hybrid-SACD. That's a SACD with two layers. One for the normal good-old PCM, and one with the resolution of a DVD and that will be in STS. Why do I like to see a SACD? Couse the attention they have to remaster will be mutch more then "only" a remaster. So on that the CD-layer will also sound better. Greetings, Peter "Shaggy" van de Beek. Exactly! Calm down. With a Hybrid version it will play in old CD players and SACD players. Since most new DVD players are also SACD players it would be in no time that everyone will be able to play the SACD part. Imagine Yello in surround sound!
