Track 11 is "Trackless Deep" and Track 13 is "Electric Frame" I agree with everything except your feelings on Heidi Happy. I haven't heard a voice more suited for Yello in a long time. I really hope they bring her back on future albums. She has a Stina Nordanstam sound to her but with a friendly girl next door quality. You mentioned the lyrics on "You Better Hide " seemed to have been written for Billy Mackenzie. I think that says a lot for Heidi as she has confessed in articles that everything she sings on the album she wrote herself. That seems to say she does fit well with Yello. I didn't like any of the Jade Davies songs on The Eye. She seemed to be pushing herself to reach the mark where Heidi makes it look so easy and natural. Takla Makan for what it is is amazing. The masterful flute of Dorothee Oberlinger is mesmerizing. But the song is missing one thing. ......... "DRUMS".
I think one interesting thing about the new album is so far whenever I play a few tracks to people who traditionally would not notice Yello, they remark very quickly on how good it is. Could this album push through a little more than previous ones? Also, I think having seen the film changes my impression of some of the tracks greatly, comparing listening to the songs (what little of them were available) before and after the film, I find that you can't help but retain the visual impression from the film when listening to the songs. This gives those songs which featured in the film something extra I think. Can't wait for that DVD! Paul Arden

"Sweet Thunder" is another Yello instrumental that did not have drums; however I don't believe that it really needed them. Do you feel that "Takla Makan" needs a drum track, or were you just pointing out that it doesn't have one? Just curious. CG
that's the beauty of it, you dont need all drum tracks on an album I think it fits ok ----- Original Message ----- From: "Casey Griffith" <cgriff@ix.netcom.com> To: "'The moon: beautiful. Sweet Thunder has a very rhythmic underlying track along with timpani for emphasis. It doesn't have drums per-se but still has a distinct rhythm. Personally, it's one of my top 5 Yello tracks. On Fri, Oct 9, 2009 at 1:26 PM, Casey Griffith <cgriff@ix.netcom.com> wrote:

Takla Makan sounds now like a spiritual zen/yoga track. I think I have about 50 of those spritual cd's. (my wife gives yoga lessons) And Takla Makan is not any differend now than those 50 cd's.(except the first minute) So,..yes a bit of drums would helped the song a lot to make it more intersting, and maybe some differend cords....(personal opinion of course.) 2009/10/9 Mike Messick <michael.messick@gmail.com>
