Hello Fellow WSLC Members, The next WSLC meeting is this Wednesday, February 18 at noon in the Copper Room at the Senate Office Building. The Education Legislative Study Committee has invited several legislators to come speak to us about the changes to the State School Board Election process. The current method of electing state school board members was struck down by a U.S. District Court judge in September 2014. Representatives Gibson, Thurston, Powell, and McCay are sponsoring bills in the House to address the issue. Senator Jackson is sponsoring a bill in the Senate. They all are bringing a different legislative solution to the floor. You will find the full agenda and bill numbers on the attached agenda. The full language of the bills can be found at the following web address: http://le.utah.gov/DynaBill/BillList?session=2015GS . For those members who have been in contact with the Nominating Committee and agreed to run for one of our elected positions please remember forward your short bio, photo, and contact information to Pam Grange at grangeline1@gmail.com this week.
