Good evening members, The revised minutes of the March 2nd general meeting are attached. Also, we have an updated agenda attached for the meeting this Wednesday, March 9th. The March 9, 2016 Bulletin is also prepared and attached. We anticipate the discussion this Wednesday under the direction of the Natural Resources Committee regarding the Utah Public Lands Initiative Act and of HB 235 Local District Tax Revisions, under the direction of the Business/Labor Committee. We sincerely hope you can join us. Remember, if you plan to attend the Legislative Wrap-Up meeting on March 16 and would like to have a lunch box, orders are due by Wednesday, March 9th. Greetings members, We thank the Education Study Committee for their work in preparing another resolution, which was passed at our March 2nd meeting. The March 2nd minutes and most recent resolutions are attached, as well as the agenda for the meeting next Wednesday, March 9th. The legislative wrap-up meeting will be held March 16th. The Celebrations Committee has prepared the option of a boxed lunch for our members that day. The flyer with information is attached. Lunch orders and payment must be received by Wednesday, March 9th. We hope you can join us on March 9th and 16th for our final general meetings this session. SB 43 Resolution

Good evening members, In our general meeting today, a resolution was presented in support of SB 43, Firearm Safety and Violence Prevention in Public Schools (Sen. Weiler, T.) . The membership present voted on this resolution, which was passed by a two-thirds majority. The resolution is attached. Our president, Shauna Scott-Bellaccomo, has asked me to pass this information along to you. Subject: URGENT: CHANGE OF PLANS Hello all. Sorry to change plans on you this morning, but that's how things on "The Hill" go. Ken is still waiting for the substitute to be ready for this bill, where he cleaned up some of the language after our committee hearing. In order to keep everyone from waiting around all day, he has decided to "circle" he bill this morning (which means to put it on hold) and get all in order and then he will "uncircle" it TOMORROW MORNING, FRIDAY , so that we can all plan on it coming up tomorrow morning. WSLC - Resolution in Opposition HB157

Good evening members, In our general meeting today, we heard discussion of HB 144, HB 157 and HB 279. A resolution in opposition to HB 157 Age Limit for Tobacco and Related Products was presented and was approved by a two-thirds majority of those present. Since the membership voted in favor of this resolution, you may now lobby in the name of WSLC if you so desire. Thanks to the Natural Resources and Energy Committee for their work in directing the meeting and in preparing the resolution. We also thank all of you who made the effort to attend and vote today. HB279 on the floor tomorrow most likely / a favor

Good evening members, Today in our general meeting, one of the bills we heard discussed was HB279. We did not have a resolution presented on this bill. However, we have received this request from Representative Ivory, the bill's sponsor, asking for support from any interested members when it is read again, probably tomorrow. Remember, if you wish to support this bill, you will be doing so as an individual, not as a member of WSLC, since we haven't voted on a resolution in support. Our president has asked me to forward this for any of you who may wish to support the bill. The request from Becky Ivory is below. Thank you, Gay Lynn Bennion WSLC Corresponding Secretary Hi all. Now that I'm back a my computer, I want to give you a few more details on HB279. Right now, it is 7th on the House 3rd Reading Calendar, after several circled bills. It is likely that it will come up tomorrow, either during he morning session (10am - 12pm) or he afternoon session (from 2pm - 5pm). If you are familiar with the system, you know that it could be a long day, and there is no guarantee that it will actually come up at all, though Ken feels it is likely. Ken has asked Marci Hamilton to help us prepare a one page handout for each of the Representatives and we would like to as you to email as many representatives as you can, a copy of the video that was created for the Committee by several survivors. You can give them the link to the video at: https://youtu.be/wKv1eZDaKaI If you want to be in the gallery, you are welcome to come and support this bill and Ken will recognize the survivors and supporters in the gallery. However, we understand that you may not be able to come with such a vague time frame. But the more people we can gather, the more of an impact it will have on those voting.
