I did some observing last night west of Tuacahn. I was observing a few Caldwell objects in Cepheus when I decided to try Caldwell 9, the Cave Nebula. It was barely visable with my 15" Obsession scope with the OIII filter. I don't know how this object got it the Caldwell catalogue. This is more of an object for CCD astro-photography in my opinion. I wonder if Sir Patrick Moore ever saw this elusive object. I think he should of put in his list, NGC 281, the Pac Man nebula, instead of the "Cave" nebula. NGC 281 is a better and brighter emission nebula. I now understand why the Cave Nebula is such a controversial object. I'm glad I didn't spend much time on this object. But I will definitely come back to NGC 281 in the future. Debbie
Debbie Thanks for the tip. I plan on checking out NGC 281 tonight. I see that it is close to or just south of the double star 24 Cas which I looked at last night. What's the best way to find any local interest in the purchase of this scope? I will be putting together a pdf document for those who express interest which will include detailed photo's, various comments on my experience with this scope and how I come up with the asking price. I'd be looking to putting the document out early next month. I don't want to go into details as this might not be the forum for it. Additionally, I'm an avid Astromart'er, but want to see if a local person might be interested first. I'm also suffering badly from a Sinus Infection .....I've missed 2 days vac, 2 w/e days and 3 work days already and from what I see some pretty darnn good seeing :( Short term replies are a strain for me. Cheers David
David... I have been looking for a scope to upgrade... can you give me any info about yours... don't recall seeing a 7 inch meade in the past.. Thanks Kay Quoting Naz & David <naz_david@msn.com>:

Huh, being a maksutov enthusiast I assumed everyone knew about Meade's 7" f/15 MCT. Mine is in near new condition. Its the latest with UHT coatings and has the GPS mount and GOTO etc It is a fine scope/mount system for the price. I will be selling it with accessories (including the Meade eyepiece offer). As said, I'll put together a flyer early next month and probably go for the SLAS website for a week then get serious with Astromart if I get no local interest.
