Kim and Joe, I'd like to know how the seeing is at the Wedge. I'm thinking of going there in May for the private star party. I was out last night observing in LaVerkin and the seeing went to mush around mid-night. The warmer temperatures take their toll on good seeing but overall it was a pleasant night. Debbie
I've had some nice seeing there, but also times when it's really windy and you get sandblasted with dust. If it's anything like SLC this weekend, I think we'll have calm times. -- Best wishes, Joe
Joe, it's been calm for days, but just this afternoon a really stiff wind kicked up here in so. Davis co. I'm hoping it's just an afternoon breeze off the lake, and not a portent of things to come... C. --- Joe Bauman <bau@desnews.com> wrote:

Chuck I check with our MET folks to see if there were any chages and they said no. This thing that is passing through now will be short lived. They assured me that it will be clear and worm - hot for St. George. There could be some high serous clouds in a few places but they should dissapate after dark. Thanks for the forecast, Jim. BTW, did you catch the recent articles in S&T on observing young crescent moons? C. --- Jim Gibson <jimgibson00@yahoo.com> wrote:

I did Chuck. I find it very fascination ever since Dave Bennett showed me a 22 - 24 hour old young crescent last summer at Wolf Creek. I went out tonight in my back yard and tried to find M77. I couldn't even find Cetus through the serous clouds. I am really of to a good start here. I tried to follow from Aldebaran down the line to Cetus with the 15X70s. It sure looks different than on my sky charts. I need a lot more practice. I have the Orion set up right now, but I am trying to get an idea where to look with the binos first. I guess I better go try again as the clouds move around. Jim Chuck Hards <chuckhards@yahoo.com> wrote: Thanks for the forecast, Jim. Jim, Do you remember what month that was? I'm thinking September as I have photos saved from the 26th. New Moon was on the 25th. If that's the day, we were seeing one more like 30 hours old. This Sunday night's will be about 34 hours old...in April we get a chance to see an 18 hour old moon which would beat my personal unaided eye record of 19. July, Sept, and Nov also look good for 16-20 hour moons. Dave On Thursday, March 18, 2004, at 09:03 PM, Jim Gibson wrote:

Dave I think you are right. The very next month I was at the Wedge trying to see the new moon ant that was in October. Our view of the cresent must have been at Wolf Creek in September. OK, That was 30 hours old then. Jim David L Bennett <dlbennett@mac.com> wrote: Jim, Do you remember what month that was? I'm thinking September as I have photos saved from the 26th. Hi Jim, I thought you were in St. George! Let's make sure we make a special attempt at July's young moon from Wolf Creek. The horizon to the West is great up there. Dave On Saturday, March 20, 2004, at 09:47 AM, Jim Gibson wrote:
