Comet Holmes picture (corrected URL)

This one is the one from earlier this evening, 1" exposure with the C-14 @ f/11. Field is 9' x 13'. URL in the last message accidentally went to a 5" exposure from a couple of nights ago. Comet 17P Holmes' tail?

I've observed comet 17P Holmes naked eye, with binoculars, with a telescope and have seen pictures of it. Where is its tail? Wayne

Comet 17P - Corrected size estimate

I didn't look at 17P last night telescopically - only with binoculars. Since Wednesday, I'm told that 17P has increased in size from 2-3 arcmins to 6 arcmins for the central coma and to 17 arcmins for the diffuse coma. I added a physical size reference table for 2 to 30 arcmins to the Utah Astro website based on today's Earth-to-17P distance: http://www.utahastronomy.com/Current_observing_events#Reference_Table_Physi… At these reported arcmin diameters, the central coma is now several times the size of Jupiter and the diffuse coma is as big as the Sun. - Kurt _______________________________________________ Sent via CSolutions - http://www.csolutions.net

I’ve added to my album a couple of shots of the Moon at twilight, taken this past Wednesday. The weather Wednesday was gorgeous, wasn’t it? I had to drive to Moab and as I was leaving town I took the two new pics that I’ve just posted. The Earth’s shadow was as distinct as I’ve ever seen it – the air was nearly perfectly clear.
