The projected (local) time of lunar impact is 11:41 PM Saturday. The moon at that time will only be about 12 degrees above the horizon. Who's going to try to observe through that much atmosphere? Seth

I plan to try. It isn't much effort and could be neat if I see something. Of course, I also show up to cloudy, rainy and snowy star parties. When we went out to watch Stardust return, it was cloudy and snowing when we drove a couple of hours to get out there. I am sure glad I went out to see it. It was something that we are not likely to see very often. The first chance of impact is 11:41 MDT. At that time the Moon will be a few degrees above the western mountains. Weather permitting I'm guessing there will still be folks at SPOC at that time and no doubt many (all?) will be focused on the Moon. I plan on bringing a low light video camera and hope someone will let me hook it to their large scope.
