Is it better to cut down on meat in the summer? I don't like very much meat in the hot summer months. I've heard meat creates heat in the body. Is this true? Comet C73P meteor shower 11:00 PM local time 5/23?

In an S&T Article, the potential for increased meteor activity around 11:00 pm local time on May 22 and May 23 from C73P's closest approach to Earth is suggested, but is unlikely. Did anyone notice anything last night? McRobert, A.M. 5/2006. He writes: 'The closest approach of [Fragment C's] orbit to the Earth, 0.04 astronomical unit, occurs on May 22 at 20:00 UT. Thus the maximum of the meteor shower would be on May 22 or May 23, with a radiant of right ascension 208Â° [13h 52m] and declination +30Â° [in Canes Venatici, 12Â° north-northwest of Arcturus], and a geocentric velocity of 13.5 km/sec, which is quite slow.' Unlike with many meteor showers, this radiant is highest in the sky as early in the night as 11 p.m. daylight saving time Â so the meteors would be visible any time from dusk to dawn." It's nearly coincidental that 1 cubic centimeter is almost exactly one milliliter. The liter (which predates the Metric System) is the volume of 1000 grams of water (grams also predating the Metric system). The cubic centimeter DOES come from the System, being that 1 centimeter is of course 1/100 of a meter. The meter was originally defined as one part in ten million of the distance from the equator to the North Pole (which incorrrectly assumed that the Earth is a perfect sphere) So, if your stride is 1 meter, it would take you 10,000,000 paces to reach the North Pole if you didn't need to climb any mountains or descend into any valleys, and you didn't drown, or get eaten by polar bears, etc. . . One of the interesting parts of these double rainbows is that the order of the colors in the dimmer outer rainbow is reversed. On the brighter rainbow to the right, the green is on the right. New Image from the Epsilon 160

Hi all. I managed to get a decent night of imaging in this week using my new Takahashi Epsilon 160. I decided to try for a pair of interesting objects: M97 and M108. I find this odd pairing to be quite beautiful. These objects are similar in apparent size and brightness, but vary greatly in form and color. M97, a planetary nebula, is only approx. 2600 light years away whereas M108, a spiral galaxy, is 45 million light years distant. I hope you enjoy the image. Here is a link to the small version..
