Similar ET particles may have triggered mutation in early life that eventually evolved into us (except for Chris Buttars, whom has shown that he is not evolved at all). But if you think about it, the whole solar system formed from the flotsam and jetsam of prior generations of stars. Truly there are no "closed systems". And it reminds me of "the photon connection"- actual particles (or wave fronts, "physical phenomenon", if you like) from the objects we see in the telescope triggering neurons in our brains via the optic channel. Star party vehicle?

For those who go to remote star parties, I came across this add for what I'm sure would make a great star party vehicle: Volkswagen Van for sale. 1974 Transporter Bus w/flower power paint job and travel friendly interior. Now, just couldn't you see Guy showing up at a star party in that? Grins, Patrick p.s. 'Course if Guy did own it it would also have dual 50 cals mounted on the roof.

Genesis

Nova Science Now - Lighting caused by cosmic rays from space?

Last night's Nova Science Now << http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sciencenow/3214/02.html >> presented a new interesting theory about how lighting is caused. Thunder clouds store relatively stable electrical charges on their top (positive) and the bottom (negative) sides. The cloud acts as an insulator. To generate lighting, something has to distabilize the system by building an electrical pathway from the top to the bottom of the cloud. One researcher was proposing that high-energy particles, like gamma rays from cosmic ray bursts may be the causative agent. The cosmic rays strike atoms in the top of the cloud sending a spray of electrons and other particles through the cloud. The electron stream creates the first conductive channel through the cloud. The stored charges on either side of the cloud tunnel through this initial channel, resulting in a cascading charge collapse that we see as lightning. Totally Off Topic Harry Potter

Just a quick note, as I know there are a few HP nuts on this list. =) Fandango now has tickets on sale to Goblet of Fire, it says November 17th at 12:01 am. But I think that is actually on friday morning. Hrm... I can only see one theater that has them, 3300 S 125 E. I bought some already.
