I;ve had this happen a few times. Just reboot the NMC card by sliding it out if the chassis or via the console interface and it will be well again (until next time). The newest edition to our IT Department (he's been in Tech Support for 3 years) emailed me this afternoon (full email below). I didn't believe him at first so I telneted to on of our TC boxes and when prompted with "Login:" I typed adm and pressed Enter. HOLY COW! It said "Hiper:" and I had full access. Is anybody successfully using a Palm III to connect to the serial port of a TC? I can get a display from it on my TRG Pro (Palm III compatible) with various terminal programs, but any attempt at input gets just junk characters that look much like a speed mismatch. I was trying to flash my NMC card to a newer version of the firmware, well halfway through the falsh it errored out and aborted. Now my NMC is dead, can't talk to it at all, cant even ping it. I've got an older model TC, one with a single 45A power supply, NMC, DUAL T1 card and 12 Quad Digital modems (about 3 years old?) where the fans are making lots of racket. o Is there any specific maintenance that I need to do on these to quiet them down? o Are they near failure if they're making lots of noise? o Can I purchase a replacement fan tray from someone on this list? Plese.. someone..
