Re: [BBTC Ride_calendar] Fwd: Policing in Emigration
In addition, police officers in several of the municipalities around here are now issuing tickets to cyclists who do not obey stop signs. We need to learn to come to a complete stop at a stop sign, not eeeaaze through slowly as we so often do. I know that in the past we have lost the respect of many automobile drivers as they wait for a stop sign and then observe us charging right through the intersection. They now have the new law to deal with to keep 3 feet distance and we should do our part as well. John In a message dated 5/18/2006 12:29:38 PM Mountain Standard Time, dave@cyclingutah.com writes:
I got this email from a friend about activities at the mouth of Emigration. I was glad to hear the police are present and are in action.
"""I am sure some of you have been up Emmigration lately with the construction and the stop light. Just to let any of you know who don't already...there is a police officer just waiting to ticket cyclists who don't obey the red light. My sister-in-law received a $70 ticket because she got to the light, there was no oncoming traffic and no cars going up the canyon with her, so she proceeded and immediately was pulled over. She said that there were 3 officers in the canyon just waiting.
Anyway just thought I would pass that along, happy riding."""""
