RE: [BBTC Ride_calendar] Canyon Conditions
We just did Mill Creek tonight. There are narrow openings in several snow banks on the road, which appear intermittently from elbow fork up to about ½ mile from the very top. There is a substantial snow bank which blocks the road at this point, and looks like it will be there for at least another week. I have a couple of questions about road conditions in the canyons. 1. Is City Creek Canyon open to the top? If not, how far is it clear? 2. Same with Millcreek. (Last Friday, there was a narrow and shallow snowbank across the road just past Elbow Fork, but I didnt see anything beyond that.) FYI -- According to the UDOT web site, East Canyon (Hwy 65), Alpine Loop (92), Monte Cristo (39), and Wolf Creek Pass (35) will all be open for cars this weekend. Too bad. Thanks for any information. -- Steve Horvat -----Original Message----- From: ride_calendar-bounces+shorvat=aklawfirm.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:ride_calendar-bounces+shorvat=aklawfirm.com@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Cheryl Sent: Tuesday, May 23, 2006 10:16 PM To: mailinglist@bbtc.net Subject: [BBTC Ride_calendar] Anyone for a ride this Friday from Wanship toEcho? Hi, I don't have it on the schedule, but I'm going to do a fairly flat "Back Side" ride this Friday, May 26 in the "banana belt" of Summit County. We will go from Wanship to Echo and back, about 30 miles and not very much elevation change. We'll begin at 10AM at the Rail Trail Park 'N Ride in Wanship, if you'd like to join us. Directions: I-80 eastbound to MM 155, Wanship Exit. After you exit, turn left and go under the freeway, across the rail trail, and the road curves to the right into Wanship. The trailhead is right across from the Spring Chicken Inn, you can't miss it. I've plotted it out on the new gmaps-pedometer site. You can plot routes for mileage, elevation changes, and satelite photos of the area as well. Pretty neat site, you can figure out routes all over the world! Friday's ride is at http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=198245 Hope to see you Friday Cheryl Soshnik csoshik@yahoo.com (435) 649-9008 _____ Yahoo! <http://us.rd.yahoo.com/mail_us/taglines/postman3/*http:/us.rd.yahoo.com/evt =39666/*http:/messenger.yahoo.com> Messenger with Voice.
