I agree with Jim and Christie. We just have to wait until the live stuff comes out. This album will take a long time to grow on some people ( as long as BND did) By the way I don't apologize for my opinion as some people on this list feel they should. I have spoken to other people outside this list and some have shared even cruder remarks about what a disappointment this new album is. "Sting has been so famous for so long and done so much -- the Police, the rain forest, the tantric sex (or was it?), the luxury-car commercial -- he has become easy to undervalue as purely a musician. The radiant Sacred Love is a vivid and frequently gorgeous reminder that Gordon Sumner is first and foremost a talented singer-songwriter. Sting clearly studied at the hyperintelligent, musically ambitious school of Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell, but he has consistently infused his postgraduate work with something his own: a wide-open global consciousness combined with a cool British reserve. Sacred Love, the follow-up to 1999's Brand New Day, finds Sting in a soulful mood. "Send Your Love" pulsates like some twenty-first-century take on classic Stevie Wonder or Marvin Gaye, with a taste of "Desert Rose" for extra flavor. The gospel-tinged love song "Whenever I Say Your Name" finds Sting trading lines effectively with the Queen of Hip-hop Soul, Mary J. Blige. Sting and co-producer Kipper have smartly stripped back the polished wall of sound that has sometimes swamped Sting's solo work. The characteristically literate "This War" rocks as convincingly as anything Sting has done since back when Stewart Copeland was keeping his time. In spots -- such as the sleekly trance-y "Never Coming Home" -- Sacred samples some of the strengths that made the Police so arresting in the first place. Michele, I appreciate your opposing viewpoint. I havenÂt bought a studio recording of StingÂs since Ten SummonerÂs Tales. I lumped all of his studio efforts together as the Âstudio crapÂ. I will continue to purchase the live albums as I find these much better. Interestingly enough, I have been able to listen to most of the new album from websites that have been posted by members of this mailing list. Maybe I should post a review of the album from someone who has chosen not to buy it. Funny, I've NEVER been one to mess with the bass, high and mid buttons and find myself doing it a lot on this CD. I guess I was just trying to hear more bass and just started messing around with it and voila' a new CD! I totally love "Never Coming Home," but the drum machine on that gets to me big time. Too bad they had to ruin the song with it. Glad the CD's coming around for some of you (as it did for me)! Anti-swap CD hits the racks - Applies to Sacred Love

The album quality does not sound good on my computer and I now understand why, a CD can only hold 70 - 80 mins of music. There are two versions of these songs on this CD and the version for the PC does not have fidelity with over 65 mins of music on this Japanese release. It simply cannot fit teo copies. Sorry, another mistake from the King of Pain. The quotes from the articles below summarize the problem and you should be able to decipher the problem with the PC audio tracks. "Windows PC, the disc installs software to keep the music secure, and an interactive menu pops up with several links"..... same thing on this CD. "His CD, meanwhile, offers a glimpse of the direction the music industry is taking to prevent rampant piracy. The disc has two sets of music tracks: one set of "encrypted" songs that can be handled by CD players but cannot be ripped on computers, and a duplicate set of tracks in the Windows Media format. These can be downloaded from the CD to a computer and then transferred to portable devices or recorded to home CDs. But these "secure digital" tracks cannot be played on another computer should they be uploaded to the Net. "The whole concept was to create a legally licensed structure" for computer use of recorded music, says William Whitmore of SunnComm, which designed the anti-copy technology. In CD players, the disc plays normally.
