Since becoming famous in The Police, of course, Andy has acted in TV shows like The Hitchhiker and movies like Another You, credited as Andy Summers. Andy as himself was actually the comedy bit. He's listed in the end credits as "Bandleader." That's his "character." He sees Richard Pryor at the beginning of the movie blow-syncing the saxophone, and Andy (with a babe on each arm) asks him if he's Milli or Vanilli. Then later in the movie in the nightclub where he's playing, Andy recognizes Richard Pryor and invites him to join the band for a sax solo. And the movie did come out the same year World Gone Strange was released, but it featured music from Charming Snakes. ®@J Michele Piumini piumichele at katamail.com Fri Dec 26 15:48:50 MST 2003 I can rememeber a film with Richard Prior in which Andy performs as an comedy actor and also as a musician with his band, in both two cases doing of himself. I think this film (please help, I cannot remember its title!) was released almost at the same time that the great "World Gone Strange". The film you're talking about is Another You, starring Richard Prior and Gene Wilder, year 1991. Interestingly, two years before another Prior-Wilder film (See No Evil, Hear No Evil) had come out, with soundtrack by Stewart. Sounds like Gene and Richard are keen on the Police, at least 2/3 of them ;-). British actor Sir Alan Bates died in London Hospital. De Britse acteur Sir Alan Bates is in een Londens ziekenhuis overleden. Hij was 69 en leed aan kanker. Bates brak in 1956 door met zijn rol in het toneelstuk “Look Back in Anger” van John Osborne. Hij was in zijn carrière die 50 jaar duurde actief in het theater. In 1960 maakte Bates zijn film debuut in “The Entertainer” met Laurence Olivier. Later speelde hij o.m. in “Zorba de Greek” (1964) ; en Women in Love (1969) met Oliver Reed en recenter in “Gosford Park”(2001) van van Robert Altman. Eerder dit jaar werd Alan Bates geridderd. Alan Bates speelde een belangrijke rol in de film uit 1997: “The Grotesque”,(ook bekend als “Gentlemen Don't Eat Poets”, of “Grave Indescretion”), een film die geproduceerde werd door Trudie Styler waarin Sting een butler speelde. My top ten in random order (For the sake of argument, I will exclude Sting's new album) Radiohead - Hail to the Thief White Stripes - Elephant Stokes - Room on Fire Grandaddy - Sumday Outkast - The Love Below (haven't listened to the second CD any) Barenaked Ladies - Everything to Everyone Guster - Keep it Together Gosh....I just realized that I didn't buy that many new CDs this year. I can't even make a top 10. I bought a lot of CDs, but they were just CDs I had wanted for awhile, so I was really catching up on lost CDs. Well, I'll throw in Sting just to make it a top 8. That makes me sad.... Ross
