Shit, I misread your email. I thought you were trying to distinguish between lossy or lossless. You can drag the files into mkwACT and it will expand them into wav and tell you the bit rate the original file was.....but those other suggestions seem much easier. EAC has frequency and spectrum analysis but some think the results can be suspect - http://etree.org/eac.html I use Soundforge and EAC for frequency and spectrum analysis and Analfreq for just frequency analysis. The hard part is interpreting the results. The forums at the Trader's Den have been a good resource for me - http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/showthread.php?t=4288 I'm not an expert but hopefully this will get you headed in the right direction. How do you tell what kbps your mp3's are? For example, I get a few things from DC++. Is there a way to tell whether an mp3 file is 192kbps or 160kbps? Thanks in advance. be well. hully

Absolutely-- LTJ Bukem. Start with the label comp "Logical Progression" ("Presented by LTJ Bukem", 1995, reissued 2001) for the classic stuff. Roni Size & Reprazent's first LP "New Forms" from 1997 is still one of my favorite electronic records ever. If you don't have this, buy it now. Hypnotic. Omni Trio - Renegade Snares (single) Goldie - Timeless ... an enduring classic Photek - Modus Operandi, Form & Function Also... the first two records by Lamb are gorgeous.
