Cruising San Juans and Gulf Islands

Just getting ready to do some cruising around the San Juans and Gulf Islands for the next couple of weeks and contemplating how much fuel to carry for my 6 hp four stroke engine. Not sure how much a little engine pushing a little boat (M17) would consume, if the winds are not agreeable. David Scobie, how much fuel do you usually carry on your travels?

MSRP for 1974 M-17?

Hi all, and maybe Jerry in particular... I'm curious if anyone here can authoritatively cite the "retail price" of an M-17, new from the maker, in 1974. Or at least the ballpark or mid-range cost, if there were a lot of options that affected the price. What got me curious was seeing some receipts from when my dad bought aluminum "cartop" boats back in 1966 & 1975, and an Evinrude outboard in 1969. Mast raising.

Hi, For mast raising I made a gin pole using a 2x4. It works great. I can provide photos of it and provide a description of how it works. When my M-17 was profiled in Good Old Boat back in March/April 2014 there’s a pic of me raising the mast using the gin pole. I use the boat trailer winch for raising and lowering the mast. I do use lines attached to the port and starboard toe rails for stability and attach a short line to the jib halyard for raising and lowering the mast. Cheers. Lenny Corin Sent from my iPad
