Hi all boat camped for two days with the little man! What a hoot! Temp was high 40s, so a bit chilly...the condensation was ridiculous, what do you guys know? And Tom, you didn't sneak the lack of porthole picture link by me! Hahaha Jazz

Hahaha > > Jazz > Hi Jazz, On bigger boats, you'd have some insulation, headliners, paneling or something else to mitigate the cold fiberglass. On a pocket cruiser, I do as in tent camping - ventilate. It seems counter intuitive to 'open a window' when it's cold, but you need to get the moisture out. Otherwise it WILL condense on cold hull. Fine tuning that ventilation is can be an art. Alternatives which I've used when winter camping are to keep a small poly 'backpacking towel' handy and just wipe down occasionally. I've also used a small UCO type candle lantern to heat the interior a little. Of course if you do that, you still need ventilation (CO and CO2 etc) and it's potentially a fire hazard, so don't do what I do :-} Cheers, a *La Totumita* M15

I have the 3 piece set for my M17 as well. I cut a piece of clear Lexan to the size of the center board, to add light to the cabin when tucked in below during the rain. What I have found interesting is that with the right rabbit cuts in the sides of the boards they can be really a warped mess and still shed rainwater. My old set as just described still did not let in a drop of rain in the most recent 5" downpour. Replacement M-17 Hatch Boards

I'm about to make new hatch boards for my M-17 using 3/8" marine plywood. I'm replacing a 3-piece set that I made years ago. I've seen photos of 2-piece sets, which I am contemplating. Is there any advantage to the 3-piece variety? Does it make any difference at all? Rich Makela M-17 #233 - Harmony

North Carolina Sailing_Invitation to the Albemarle Sound

Only 20 miles south of the Virginia border the Albemarle Sound area offers some of the best small boat cruising in the North Carolina. I am planning a 2-3 day shake-down cruise there in mid-May and invite Monty owners to explore the area with me. Distance sailed each day would be between 12 and 18 nautical miles. Trip would include a stop at one of 3 historic sea-towns that offer free dockage for small boats. Final route would be contingent on wind direction. With three North-South rivers to choose from and the East-West orientation of the Albemarle a trip for all conditions can be planned. Searching for 'dusty rudder gudgeons'

maybe sitting on a shelf or on an old beat up rudder you no longer use or..?? See attached photo - old style lifting rudder gudgeons that are attached to the rudder blade. A friend is participating in an Adventure Race (yeah - THAT one) and is in need of these for a new rudder that is being built for the boat. Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance, GO

Looking for 3 rudder gudgeons for an M-17 - 1/2" pin and 1.5" to 1.75" rudder blade thickness. These are for a friend that is embarking on an adventure race - your help is appreciated. Any out there sitting in the garage or on that old rudder you no longer use?? Thanks in advance - GO
