2nd what Larry Yake said. The pool of information shared, and the "connection" among us, is most powerful when we are not splintered into different forums or factions. The only advantage I have seen of the email-based system is that it is "pushed" out to us. Admittedly this does serve to keep us current on new and developing conversations--as opposed to consciously logging into Trailer Sailor to peruse the conversations and topics. But the emails came so fast and furious, I had to go to the digest format, which is terribly difficult to read (IMHO). I do most of my communication & lurking on the TS boars because I also follow the Potter forum as it is the defacto form of communication and announcements for the Potter Yachters (which have Mboat, Compac, and other sailors) in Northern California. One-stop shop to lurk, and share insights not only with the wrinkleboat crowd, but also the other sailors. How many of you choose to pose a question or an announcement on the maillist, but not on the forum, or vice versa? Or offer up an answer? Or perhaps some of us might feel the need to post twice-once on each venue--just to get the widest audience? Crazy. Let's stop the splintering and get everyone talking on (or sailing in) the same channel. I have a Windows 7 setup (forgot the formal word here for "setup") which should tell you how swift I am with computers in general. Can someone tell me how to compress the pics I take with with my DSLR so they will fit on the MSOG site? I have noticed some here can post a thumbnail photo and sometimes when I click on that a larger view pops up on the screen. I would like to put in a word for Keith. He has done an excellent job of maintaining this list for many years. Also keep in mind that he is really not into sailing at this time and provides the list as a "gift" to its members. It is certainly a good topic worthy of discussion, but I would suggest you think long and hard before making any changes. I follow other groups on other subjects on other subjects and see pluses and minuses of each including this group. This is the most active group I follow and sometimes am sorry it is hard to search old posts and have images more wrapped into the process. *Facebook would be okay but it would be sort of nice to be off of that platform. I will note that I participate in the Montgomery Sailboats group on Facebook. *Forums are good in my experience. It would be nice for posts and photos to be kept and searched "forever". *I participate in a Yahoo group for sailplanes and it is pretty good. It is not very active and many posts involve photos. *The amount of activity on this platform is good but is unfortunate photos are somewhat difficult and searching older posts is lacking. (Thanks to whoever makes this this platform work, though!) I know TS has had some 'personal' issues in past - and let's not go there now - but it does seem like a logical home for wrinkleheads. Ah, good point Henry. No albums on trailer sailor. A Yahoo group or other similar would be better for that. ie the Nor'sea Yahoo group. If the MSOG site or the old photo site I think Dave Scobie is working on preserving allows that, then so much the better, wait for that. It may have the older and still good content. Nonsuch boats have a Pbase photo site with something like that, but it is not administered anymore. Now just an orphaned photo site. Thin lines aloft help deal with windage (drag and making the hull roll off to leeward). Old Rope

Need to replace all the rotted rope on what is becoming my M17. (By “all the rotted rope” I mean _all_ the rope.) The pieces that are left measure 5/16”. That looks right for the halyards and incidentals, but the sheet blocks and cleats look like they were intended for something larger. What is (are) the usual sizes? About the only piece that isn’t coming apart is the centerboard pendant. It’s tempting to leave it alone as I don’t really have a plan for getting at the centerboard.
