Appears that is not a spar at the stern - but a flagstaff. Saw it at the 2014 CC sailing around in the bay. In a message dated 7/17/2015 3:25:56 P.M. Any experience with Schaefer cam cleats?

Hi all, I need to replace some very aged delrin-ball-bearings-falling-out cam cleats (for 7/16" jib sheets). Anyone have any experience, pro or con, with the Schaefer brand offerings? Interesting boat spotted in Monterey Bay

I saw this last summer in Monterey Bay. Do you guys think it's an M boat? It looks like it has been converted to a ketch rig with a windvane, sitting headroom cabin extension, and the loudest paint job I've ever seen. I'd love to hear the story behind this. Tyler Davis, CA M15 #157 "Defiant"

I think "Sail" is bowing to merchandizing trends. How many boats can the very wealthy buy every year? Besides all the points mentioned by George. I know in my case my "last" boat was a 36footer and it disabused me of the stick and rag lifestyle until I happened to take a ride in a friend's homebuilt 14footer some years later. Now I have another Montgomery 17 sitting in the driveway. Tom B

Hello Wayne, You didn't say whether you bought a 15 or a 17. I was just up in Alaska last month. You certainly have a beautiful "backyard" to play around in. Your "grands" will really love seeing it from the water too. Good move on your part. You won't be disappointed. Unfortunately, living in South Texas, I probably won't be sailing up there much. Henry, Thanks for the heads up - Sorry to say my travel plans for this year are maxed out - just got back from a trip to FL (family reunion - sailing too). Sounds like a beautiful place and would love to get up to that part of the world (my wife went to Macalaster College in Mn) - but I can't fit it in this year. Retirement (technical retire) is coming in the next couple of years so we will keep it on the radar. Thanks for the invite Henry, I look forward to seeing you and the family crew sometime in the near future. Would be great to see Bones and Tom too. Gary O.
