Hi Bill, In my Third Iteration I said, In those days the engines were encased in a cover. Correct that to read, the engines were not encased in a cover - i.e., the cylinder, spark plug and high tension wire were out in the open. Salt spray kills the ignition instantly when it lands on the high tension lead and the spark plug. Trying to clean it with a Kleenex doesn't do the job. You just have to start rowing again... Modern outboard engines all have complete cowls around the engine so that salt spray can't get to the high tension wire and the porcelain of the spark plugs. That is a major improvement. Connie

Subject: M_Boats: Overnight in Mission Bay This supplements questions I had for this group last September that Bill Hinkel and Daniel Lloyd were good enough to respond to back then.? Thanks again to Bill and Daniel. We are planning to take our Montgomery 15 to Mission Bay in a couple of weeks are are interested in spending a night or two on the boat out on Mission Bay.? We'd like to be close to the west side of the bay so we could row in to shore and go to restaurants.? I've run around the bay a couple of times and I saw a lot of moored boats in the coves on that side of the bay, but didn't see obvious areas to anchor.? Can anyone provide advice on anchoring or renting a moorage or tell me where I can get more information?? Thanks! I'll also report my son and I had a nice time on Lake Powell last weekend.? Not a whole lot of wind but a whole lot of motor boats and the like, but still a great time seeing the sights, swimming, and tucking ourselves into nooks and crannys.? Hi Connie, Great to hear from you, as always!I just acquired a 1972 Evinrude "Mate" 2hp outboard from a fishing buddy. I got her running and am going to try it on my M6.8. Happy Reefing

I've been experimenting with reefing systems on my M-15. I've had a few brief reefing experiences in the past with other boats and some of them have been really memorable. But I think with the 15 it's going to be more of a 'normal' thing to do and so I've been trying to find the most equaninimous balance between bliss and panic. Not altogether successful so far as far as keeping the troops happy. What methods do others use to reef in an 'all in the day's work' frame of mind? I've had two people tell me the one-line quick system is the way to go. But trying it, it's hard to avoid all the lines hanging in my face. The old one thing at a time? Before I invest in anything else I'd like to hear what others are using that is successful. Any reefers out there happy? Thanks! Steve M-15
