Regarding Anacapa trip May 21-22

Norm, Sounds great! It'll be super to get to meet you and we are looking forward to sailing with ya. (especially since you've done the rip before and are familiar with the area). Yes, we've sailed the 17 in some pretty good winds, however, that's on an inland lake with just wind chop to deal with. Like I said before, I consider my self a coastal neophyte! We've gone to San Diego before and played around a little off Point Loma, but mostly stayed on the Bay. A trip any distance offshore is a first for me so you'll probably find me on the cautious side. I don't think...no....I know you won't see my trying to beat to Anacapa in 34 knots of wind!! Now , Jason?????? He's pretty gung ho! As for overnighting, I don't think we're going to be in for that. We're really hoping to go out and back on Sat so we can get home on Sunday. If we can't sail out Sat we'll try for an early trip Sun am out and back but we both have to be back to work on Monday for sure. (I love my job but that work thing really get in the way sometimes!) Hope some other folks will come along as well. Any info you can round up would be great. Thanks Sean

Hey gang, just want to clarify a couple of things; 1. Bob Eeg did not come to me and ask me to make a t-shirt advertising for him. Quite the contrary, I went to Bob Eeg and asked that if I made a T-shirt if I could place the Montgomery name and logo on them. I was pleased when he said yes I could, and have no problem with displaying a small web address for him on the back. He could have just as easily said "NO". End of story. As far as needing any advertising that the few shirts we might make could provide...well, let's not kid ourselves. Bob is backlogged on boat orders. I guess if wearing a shirt with Montgomery Boats web address rubs you the wrong way then you always have the option to make your own shirt without it, or simply not have a Montgomery sailboat shirt. There's nothing wrong with either of those two options. 2. Apparently yesterday when I was on duty there was a post from Jerry Montgomery himself indicating that he retains rights to the Montgomery name. Regarding Anacapa trip May 21-22

I live and sail out of the Channel Islands area. I'll be joining Sean May 21-22. However after seeing pictures of their racing style on Lake Havasu, I think I'll need a 20 hp outboard to stay up with them. If anyone needs information on the area, just contact me. The Channel Islands' launch area allows overnighting on your boats. There are guest slips available also. I'll get current pricing on both. There is also an anchorage on the South shore of Anacapa which can be used if the weather is good. There are also two Coast Guard buoys on the North side which may be useable. I'm in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and may be able to find out if they are available. Overnighting at Anacapa would be based on the weather report. I put an update on www.havasumontgomerys.funtigo.com of Dauntless' ballast going back in. I have made the rein/shot ingots to finish replacing the ballast and have begun installing them. 900lbs of old wet steel ballast out, so far about 1100lbs of new dry lead ballast back in.
