Hi folks! In the US we have several "Remix Services" that package songs
into monthly "series" CD's, available by subscription to DJ's, radio
stations, and the like. One of the largest, Promo Only, put Kraftwerk into
one of their series!
In their "Alternative Club" series CD for August, 2003, Tour De France
appears. In their accompaning magazine they describe the track (and another
of the CD's cuts) thusly:
"Ghost Caldron goes way left with the Vortex Psychonauts Remix of "See What
I've Become," an almost eighties electro type piece which kind of reminds
one of some early Kraftwerk. Adding a few familiar 80's dance samples and
working a vocodered vocal, the sound definitely harkens back to those old
LFO and Kraftwerk grooves. Speaking of Kraftwerk, the electro pioneers make
a rare appearance in our collection this month with "Tour De France" a
futuristic style electro groove that really can't be placed into any
category. Lots of spacey filtered keyboard work along side perky muted kick
in this Long Distance Version 2 mix. Those signature dark vocals are intact
and add a little direction to what is otherwise a very eccentric track."
Accompanying the article is a picture of the original foursome from the
Computer World period. It's great that any remix service would include
Kraftwerk in one of their issues. Perhaps that American Tour isn't too far
off <G>. -Keith Johnson
