what geneside 2 tracks are you talking about? Narra mine and? Thats the only one I know. the prodigy had loads of different sounds, so i would be interested to hear the other geneside 2 tracks as i love narra mine (did you ever get the armand van helden mixes) ======================================== Message date : Nov 29 2004, 08:29 AM
From : "KLF- gyerek" To : klf@mailman.xmission.com Copy to : Subject : RE: [KLF] Prodigy (OT) When I first heard "Girls" I thought that's a good track. But I also think that it's kinda dated. This kind of sound would be perfect in 1999. But back then the Prodge boys pretended they were the best rock band in the world, so I chose Genaside II instead (from whom the Prodigy stole almost everything, "Firestater" for example). Since then GII never disappointed me. Laim/Prodigy now may have a second wing, but maybe it's too late. At least, "Girls" is a listenable track (unlike "Breathe", "Baby's Got a Temper"). For me the best Prodigy album will be "Experience", I didn't like "Music For..." as much as the first album. The Prodigy may be a world famous techno band, but they would be nothing without the sonic revolutions of Genaside II or Meat Beat Manifesto. AS for the KSTJ relations, well the KLF guys had some sense of humour (see the lyrics, or hear their send-up KLF-version of Kylie tracks).

Has anyone heard the new Album?? IT is mostly SHIT. What I have heard it only has 2-3 good tracks. They have gone downhill since their last album..
What a shame.. :-(

That track was a collaboration with ray Keith, called Fire When ready, and maybe it wasn't released as Genaside II, but something like G Double E or GII or...??? Check out the Genaside II remix (or rather vivisection) of the Prodigy track "Jericho". Those breaks I suspect were later sampled by Prodigy for Firestarter, and Genaside II also rerecorded the track for their second album with lyrics and renamed it "Casualties Of War". I don't have the Aramd mixes, but I have all three GII albums, a promo CD of Mr. Maniac, some of their remixes (Tricky, Jhana, Prodigy), collaborations (Product Of The Environment), and some film music too apperance (Everybody Loves Sunshine). I also have a bootleg edition of their second album, with same tracks but different cover art. There is much more to discover in GII, though Narra Mine is an all time classic... The first album was a huge "featuring ..." one, with everyone appearing from Rose Windross to some Wu boys, the second one is a stripped-down, almost punk disc with some opera vocals, the third is even better. Or I think so. For more info check out my tribute (I hope it's accessible outside Hungary). http://www.freeweb.hu/drf/genaside.htm

If You give me the permission to do so, I can upload some of them this weekend (Friday/Saturday evening). I try to find a good mp3-encoder, I have a portable 32MB, so it can't be that hard...I don't have the Ray Keith track, but the Jericho mix (GII vs. Prodigy) is pretty wild and brutal (and it has that killer drum beat). Apart from that, the _maybe_ Prodigy-done remix of Narra Mine may be interesting (and the DJ Zinc mix of Mr. Maniac, and and and...). Aaahhh I think it's better to own all three albums...anyway I dig up the diamonds and share them with you...:) As for the Ray Keith-GII track, the best collectors try to pick up a copy for me. No success yet.

how long ago are we talking here?? early 90s or something semi recent? thanx brendan
Some final thoughts. The latest GII album has some remixes or rerecordings of earlier material (Revolution Revised, Ten Pounds Heavier, Archer's Revenge). Well Archer's Revenge, which is a remix of Narra Mine, was maybe, I say MAYBE remixed by the Prodigy, because in the liner notes it says "Remixed by Outnumbered" (or something like that, which may refer to the latest Prodigy album title). However, the mix is almost too good to be done by Liam...or was it really him, and it's the first step to underground credibility? _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger!
