I must admit to not knowing much about bittorrent, etc. But, if we post information about a "list only" application on the list itself, can't anyone just stumble across it with Google? It is an open forum, after all.
No more than with the FTP. However with torrents they're only running as long as people are seeding. That is, people with the entire file staying online so people can continue to download from it. After a couple weeks it's unlikely anyone will be seeding something like the WR DVD so anyone who comes across it via Google would be out of luck. -paul

And possibly, given the sort of "community" at the list here, people could actually request reseeds for certain torrents without the usual "OMG SEEDZ PLZ" flaming. At least for bigger files, such as the already mentioned White Room DVD with two soundtracks, it would be quite grand. Of course these reseed requests should be prefixed with the appropriate [RESEED] tag at the subject header so those who won't have any part at it could easily ignore the whole thing. (As already witnessed with RMStinger's FTP-related posts...) Just another 5c from me -j -- ... It feels great to wake up and not know what day it is, doesn't it?
I think this is all heading in a brilliant direction. Stringers ftp is a phenomenal resource, but unfortunately the speeds make it a bit prohibitive at times. I know there is tons of stuff on there I would LOVE to leech, but it would take days to get all I want, and I hate the thought of sapping up that much of his bandwidth. It would be amazing if we could work out mailing lists torrents somehow. -s- -----Original Message----- From: klf-bounces+shilo101=comcast.net@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:klf-bounces+shilo101=comcast.net@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Juha Ekholm Sent: Friday, September 30, 2005 3:08 PM To: All bound for Mu-Mu Land. I also don't mind hosting the bit torrent server. I have several boxes that could host the server if need be. Just an offer. RMStringer ========================================== Seek not every quality in one individual: *Confucius*
mayber we can do something like : - a private tracker with personnal account for the people on the list, - everybody must have 1:1 ratio minimum, - try to make the torrent last 2 weeks and then take it off the tracker - only use it for big files (dvd/flac), mp3 are already on the ftp/soulseek seb RMStringer wrote:
