OK, I've always been one of those guys who has preferred CD because it sounds good without all the fuss; but there's still a lot of stuff out there that's vinyl only. For the past 23 (yes 23) years I've depended on my trusty Sony linear-tracking turntable to transpose my vinyl onto cassette, then minidisc, then digital. I've uploaded the most recent things to someplace you might know. However, my trusty turntable died last week. I tried to get it fixed, but I was told over and over "don't fix that piece of shit, buy a Technics." So I broke down and bought a refurbished Technics 1200. Still calibrating it but I must say after testing it with a bootleg of Madrugda Eterna (club mix) the thing sounds amazing! I also stumbled across this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gyvipBs6Vs So, I've glued-up my crackly copy of Madrugda and will let you know how it goes. Looking forward to upping a bunch of new freshly cleaned rips soon! Dan

I tried that and it works. You have to be careful not to let the glue dry too long. Remove it as soon as it has dried or it might get stuck a little bit too hard. Try on a record that you don't care much about first. I find that washing with water and dish washing soap gives an equally good result and takes less time, just remember to wipe off the water with a cloth that doesn't leave fibres on the record. /Hans

I found this one best too. Just dish washing liquid as it removes all the grease and microfiber cloth. Bueno. I also have used basic AM Record cleaner fluid http://www.amdenmark.com/sort/engelsk/cleaning/10101/10101.html -- anttil.
The clip is really interesting! When you have your 'negative' of the vinyl once you've peeled it off, do you reckon you could make your own flexi disc by carrying out the process again on the bit you've peeled off? Bring on the 'Mu D Vari Speed Flex Disc'!!
