That's quite a haul ... ! I recall once being in a second-hand shop in Dundee just after a KLF kompletist had been in and sold his collection ... I cherry-picked some of the stuff, but being a humble student some items were just too expensive for me. But I still remember the giddying sight of "Pure Trance" sleeves and labels, JAMSCD4s, pink label "Space" promos, the "White Room Demos" bootleg cassette and Pete Robinson's book all lying in a plastic bag ...! Now ... talking of rarities (as we have been for a while) what about turning things on their head? What is the *LEAST* rare KLF rarity; the thing people stick on ebay thinking they'll make a fortune, and they don't ... I'm sure we've all seen bog-standard "3 AM Eternal at the SSL" 12-inches on ebay for £15 or upwards, and not getting any bids. But my vote for a non-rare KLF rarity has got to be KLF PUB1, the "jukebox" promo of WTIL/J&A. No one ever seems to want to buy either on ebay, even for 99p! ...meant to add: not quite as good but rather exciting for me - I was staying in San Francisco for a few months training for a job and spent a few early days off hitting the local record shops. I was heading home when I spotted a new one. I had time so I stopped. A small utterance of "oh, cool" when I thought I spotted Chill Out on vinyl in the bin. Turns out it was Who Killed the JAMs in mint condition. Even better, it cost $5. -paul

I once got a copy of "K Sera Sera" CD single for £4.99, which I thought was a little strange (to own it in the first place, you'd have to know a little about its history, wouldn't you?) and I oalso got the very rare live CD by James "One Man Clapping" as part of a "four albums for £10" deal on ebay (on its own it usually goes for £70-80) - but I think that was more that the person did not know what he was selling. Any other KLF "bargain" stories out there? KLF010RR at a carboot sale, or "Love Trance" at Oxfam? I once got a package deal which came with Ultra Rare Trax, WTILS (cd), KLF v PSB 12", Chill Out, and WTIL US cd single for something like $48. I sold URT for $62, PSB for $12, Chill Out for $9.50 and the WTIL cd for $2.25. I nearly doubled what I spent and got a free WTILS cd, which was all I wanted in the first place! (I started keeping track for buying and selling when I found a weeks old won ebay auction email buried in my inbox and i couldn't even remember if i paid the guy or not. i would have done it with a money order -- pre paypal -- but couldn't find the receipt. so either i was a bad buyer or he ripped me off!) -paul

Yep. Sounds like it. There's two versions, I think, the original issue with a blue cover with pink writing and a reissue with an orange cover and yellow writing. Both cassette and CD versions used to be fairly easy to find in CD racks at petrols stations in the UK! Does anyone know, incidentally, why out of all the unreleased "White Room Soundtrack" material, Lenny Dee's remix of "Build of Fire" saw the light of day on this compilation? Why did Lenny Dee remix it? Was it due to be a b-side, possibly to the "lost" Christmas 1989 single "No More Tears"? Questions ... questions ... I'm hardly an authoritative person to get respectable input on this matter but for my two bits: I proudly own the first three, so they can't possibly be that rare! :) KSTJ I don't think I've ever seen come up for sale except for the one time when I bought it. WTILS shows up on ebay from time to time, just keep looking, as does Eternity on CD but it's too rich for me. Based solely on stuff I've seen or haven't seen come up for sale (and again these are for proper commercial releases), I'd say some of the rarest are the Disco 2000 cd single for Uptight, the french (i think it was) cd single for TARDIS which has all six mixes (but it sounds crap so don't waste your time), and the OZ History of the JAMs. I searched for that particular one for YEARS and finally scored one. -paul
