Because (a.:) they are the owners of the copyrights, since they are they are the writers, and (b.:) Billy Bragg is a left-wing (to the best of my knowledge). See the Chumbawamba cases... It's always useful to ask for a permission if You wanna cover a song. But these are just my thoughts. Maybe the laws changed, I dunno any better. Hi folks, I am currently helping someone in the States who is writing a biography of Art Garfunkel, and she asked me a couple of questions about the publishing rights he might have over Paul Simon's songs. Since some people on this list probably know a bit about copyright law, and the general mechanics of the music industry, I thought someone might be able to help. Here are my questions. Please e-mail me off-list if you have any points to make: (1) Garfunkel wrote none of the music. However, the last two Simon and Garfunkel retrospective box-sets have been promoted mostly by him, rather than Simon. What financial dividends would he receive, or is it a case of him doing all the promotion, and Paul Simon getting the profit? (2) Is Garfunkel entitled to sing Simon's songs after the end of their partnership, in solo concerts, because he sang on the original versions along with him in the sixties? (3) Is Garfunkel entitled to sing Simon's solo songs - ones which they sang together in reunion concerts, but NOT ones they originally recorded together - in subsequent solo shows, again because they DID sing them together in reunion shows? (4) Does anyone know where to find the dance cover version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" which came out in 1992? Thanks in advance, John

UK (MIKE DUTTON; ETERNITY 23) 1-sided 5:20 Madrugada Eterna (club mix) (According to....) I recall a guy named Xavier (from France) selling one of the first two on Ebay a few years ago. He confirmed they were original etc. He also sold an original copy of The White Room movie. Anyone else recalling this? This info was taken from the Record Collector Price Guide. So there should be copies out there with 2 catalogue numbers... The Eternity 23 was made by Dutton I heard from John Milne. The scratched out part was to contain his name. Where he took the original from, is a riddle to me... Hope you've got an answer... Tomorrow (Saturday, July 5) the swedish national radio will re-broadcast a one hour documentary about KLF from last year called "Build a fire". From what I remember most of the show is in swedish, but interviews in english with some KLF related persons (don't remeber which) appear a few times. If you don't live in Sweden, you can listen to it on the Internet. Just type www.sr.se in your web browser, hit the WEBBRADIO link on the top left, choose streaming format (the RealPlayer option gives the best sound quality) and choose the station called P1 from the list of programs that appear in the dropdown box called "Välj vad du vill lyssna på" (which means "Choose what you want to listen to"). The documentary also featured several shots of Drummond, talking about Zoo and his WEA tenure, in a very comfy-looking country kitchen. If memory serves me right, though, the clip from "TOTP" was also filmed in the pouring rain, with them holding slightly camp, clear plastic umbrellas, stating that they were "live from Mount Fuji" rather than Canada. But that's a very hazy memory. John PS - Were the KLF at the 1992 Montreaux comedy festival, then?
