I am looking for someone to let their glittering stone series go at a decent price. Great as the books are there is no way I can afford the rediculous prices listed online. I would hate to have read this series this far to be thrwarted so close to the end. -- Sent from Gmail for mobile | mobile.google.com

I'll think about it - in eight years time. Seriously, I had to wait about that long from the last book of the south Glittering Stone (which I expected to be a single book) to come out, so why shouldn't others? Richard

The anticipation is half the fun! ;-) I remember scouring used book stores in the late '80s for "The White Rose" for a couple years after I foolishly didn't pick it up at the same time as "Shadows Linger." I also remember the elation when I finally found it in a dark corner of my favorite book store. Amazingly it lived up to the years of waiting. Which books specifically are you looking for? I see that "Water Sleeps" is available used from amazon.com for $1.24 + $4.00 for shipiping for the hardcover edition. That's very reasonable. Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0312859090/ref=ed_oe_h_olp The prices for "Soldiers Live", "She is the Darkness" and "Bleak Seasons" are outrageous, I agree. I have an extra copy of the hard cover of "Bleak Seasons" which I could sell you for the price I paid ($23) plus shipping. You could also check your local libraries if you haven't already. Or wait for the next omnibus from Tor. Steve P.S. You could always pick up the Dread Empire omnibus editions in the meantime. :)
Well...... Because we are fans of Croaker and the company...if I had them I would pass them on to those that had the same trouble as myself. But they are yours and you may do as you please. Although I hope you do reconsider. On 3/4/09, Joshua Johns <paleriderdt@gmail.com> wrote:

Maybe I should have added smiles to that message. I have two copies of each of the Glittering Stone books - the hard cover one I ran out and bought the moment it was available, and the beat up paperbacks I lend to out to friends. No, they weren't beat up when I bought them, but they got that way when I lent them out. Sorry, but I can't part with either of them. Richard
Aren't they available through the local library (or, at worst, interlibriary loan)? ---- Joshua Johns <paleriderdt@gmail.com> wrote:

I'm sure you're all aware that Tor is letting the demand for the next 2 omnibuses build up. Later this year, by my best guess, the omnibus of Bleak Seasons and She is the Darkness will be out, followed next spring by the final omnibus of Water Sleeps and Soldiers Live. By then, the next new Black Company novel might even be ready ;-) These reissues are certainly popular. The first omnibus is now on to its 6th printing. I was at my local Borders last week, and saw a copy, and it was in the thicker spine version Tor used for the first 3 or so printings, before they switched to thinner spines for later printings and for the second omnibus and for the two most recent Malzan books. i thought it might be a leftover older copy, but it was a brand new 6th printing. I notice these things because I'm anal retentive as hell, and I don't actually yet own the Black Company omnibuses (since I have mass market paperbacks of them all). I intend to eventually get the omnibuses, and it will bother me greatly if I end up with one volume with a narrow spine, and one with a thick spine!!! Anyway, waiting a year or so to read Glittering Stone is a pittance, after how long many of us have waited to read the final Dred Empire volume ;-)
Honestly, I would check your local library. Maybe I got lucky, but all four books of the Glittering Stone were at mine. * * * William S. Antell http://www.fenestrated.com/

The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (of which Glen Cook is a member) has four different holding libraries. I believe they are all associated with university libraries, so the books are definitely out there for inter library loans. I know this because I live by the University of New Brunswick, which is one of the holding centers. As long as I'm nice to the librarians (i.e. can get access to the special collections) I have access to virtually SC&F novel published since 1970. Richard
I shall continue my hunt. Hopefully someone somwhere out there will be willing to share. On 3/4/09, Richard Chilton <rchilton@auracom.com> wrote:

The library is willing to share. You just have to give them back when you are done. LOL - Scott On Thu, Mar 5, 2009 at 7:59 AM, Joshua Johns <paleriderdt@gmail.com> wrote:

which ones do you need and how much can you afford? I have all of them available, most in hard back but one or two in paperback and am willing to be reasonable. Make me an offer. Has anyone bought the limited edition Dread Empire omnibuses from Nightshade Books. They're supposed to be "leather bound" which would be cool but I'm not sure I want to spend $60 on it when I can just get the standard hardcover instead. If you have one I'd like to hear details on what you think of it. Steve
