Two books in the last month. Whispering Nickel idols is the new Garrett, PI novel. Tyranny of the Night is the first of his new fantasy trilogy. anything new happening? the last i heard was that there was trouble finding a publisher for the butcher's apprentice. i was hoping to see something from glen cook show up eventually, but i think it's been a few years, now. it feels that way, at any rate. :) -adam

I sent the below message after resubscribing but I didn't see it (despite using the option to see my own posts) so I'm including it below. I have to say that I'm glad the list is back. It was a quiet one but fun and informative when people did use it. I too found "Whispering Nickel Idols" in the bookstore when I was doing my usual casual glance to see how many Glen Cook books they had. Very fun. So far, I am enjoying the Garrett novel -- it's typical fare for that series though I am liking it a bit better than the last couple so far. Can't wait for my birthday in a couple weeks to get "The Tyranny of the Night." Tyranny of the Night feels like a Dread Empire novel because they use the same style of narration. I walked into my favorite bookstore today to get the new Cook book, first of that fantasy trilogy he mentioned couple years ago, "Tyranny of the Night", as Amazon alerted me to the fact of its existence (but I'd much rather patronize a local St. Louis shop, one of the few independent book stores still around). And lo and behold, there's a new Garrett book out as well, "Whispering Nickel Idols"! Great stuff to take on my vacation, starting Saturdday :) Ah, the things I miss by not being able to receive this list. Why is it spam-filtered by my university? I sure wish I knew how to get around it. Steve/Stacey

Trying to restart the list

Hi. If you're like me you either tried to post to the majordomo list or someone pointed out to you that the list had been transfered but addresses weren't. One of the things you could do with a majordomo list was find out who else was on it. A year ago March I thought I had been unsubbed, so requested the list to see if I was on it. The list was 191 names long then, and I've just sent out an email out to all those addresses to let those people know about the change. I've received about 70 "that address doesn't exist any more" responses and a few "thanks for pointing that out" ones, so hopefully we will get our numbers back up as we talk about "Whispering Nickel Idols" and "The Tyranny of the Night". Right now there are only three of us on the list. If you knew someone on the old list now might be the time to let them about the change.
