I just finished the book and I can't decide what I think. The end seemed to come and go a little to quickly for me after all the build up. I certainly was ripping through the book quickly enough and was enjoying myself along the way. I wonder if I'm just glum it's over. 20+ years was a long wait. Still, I left it still feeling as if the story wasn't quite over yet, as if Cook left some things open (with Mist's kids, with Bragi and Kavelin, with Haround, Yasmid and Hammad al Nakir, and with Mist knowing where the Star Rider might be from El Murid), which, given that my presumption is that this is certainly the last Dread Empire story, didn't set right. I also have a question that I'd love feed back on if anyone is able: Why does Mist recognize the Matayangan guru aiding the Disciple? Who is he supposed to be? Jerry Kalayjian

Were Reap the East Wind and An Ill Fate Marshalling ever released in hardback? I've got all of the other Dread Empire novels in hardback now and thought it might be nice to complete the set. :-) I couldn't find them via google or amazon. Steve

I should have my copy of this soon. I think ebook versions are already being distributed. Amazon lists the hardcopy edition for release on January 10, while Barnes & Noble still lists the release date as January 17. However, I pre-ordered with B&N, and a shipping label was generated on December 31. The holiday means that the order won't actually ship out until tomorrow, January 3, but the book should be in my hands by the end of this week. I can hardly wait! The next Dread Empire book has been announced! A Path to Coldness of Heart<http://www.nightshadebooks.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=222>should be out early next year. The blurb says that it is the conclusion to the Dread Empire saga, but doesn't state that it is the final volume. The "conclusion" to The Wheel of Time is spread over three books. I wonder if there could be one more book, a grand finale to the Dread Empire. Yeah, probably not, but the original plan was to have two books after An Ill Fate Marshalling, so I can hope...

An Ill Fate Marshalling reprint announced!

Reap the East Wind is supposed to be out in October, so that suggests that the final Dread Empire volume might be out in February or so next year! as Mr. Burns might say, "Excellent!" It's too bad the publicity copy is so poor, it reads as follows: "Coming December 2011 King Bragi Ragnorson decides to join Chatelain Mist�s coup against the Dread Empire. Varhlokkur � the King�s wizard � tries to dissuade Ragnorson from this chosen path, but only the drum-beat of war is heard. The King�s Spymaster Michael Trebilcock joins with the wizard to stave off The Ill Fate Marshaling, to no effect. Many of the characters from past volumes take center stage, and the climatic events of this book shake the world of the Dread Empire to its very core, creating A Path to Coldness of Heart." Who is this "Ragnorson" and "Varhlokkur?" I assume they got the first one by glancing at the copy on the back of the Tor edition, which uses a similar misspelling. The latter, with the "t" missing from Varthlokkur, is just sloppy. So is using the word "Marshaling" when the book title is "Marshalling." I checked my dictionary, both are considered acceptable, even if spell-checkers want the former. Finally notice that "climatic" events are mentioned, but not "climactic" ones. I tried to send Nightshade an email about this, but their listed contact email is apparently invalid!
