Yesterday Mom told me that it feels like Dad is disappearing. That soon she won't be able to remember him or have proof that he really was here all those years. I'm wondering if videos of Dad might help Mom. If you have videos you can share with Mom please do! She can watch DVDs on her computer. Or any format that would be Mom-friendly, or easy for her to learn.
Dad IS disappearing... I felt that about Lee in the months after he left. Not so much any more. Part of that, I think, is the passage of time... that as the new reality becomes "normal" the feeling of disappearing diminished and then it disappeared itself. I also work to keep the memories - and stories, and gratitude - alive. Love the video idea! Stories work well too - I've seen Mom's eyes light up at even a brief story about Dad - especially ones she hasn't heard, or hasn't heard from me - always a different take depending on the storyteller. I think her feeling of "disappearing" will pass after a time. At some point I think she's likely to start feeling him close again : )

Can we set up a TV with a Chromecast that will just rotate through a photo album of Dad? Videos will play on the backdrop (I think) if they are in the album. I don't know if anyone has an unused one or older model, but it would be easy to setup. He had an extra TV in his office I believe. We could put it somewhere obvious. Maybe having JUST pictures of him would be too much. Maybe a mixed album with a heavy leaning towards pictures with him in them. I'd wondered about creating a "dad" YouTube channel. Joe has one for our family videos. Very easy to set up. Input? On Thu, Jul 13, 2017 at 9:48 PM Barb Gmail <bakerclan6@gmail.com> wrote:
