Dad IS disappearing... I felt that about Lee in the months after he left. Not so much any more. Part of that, I think, is the passage of time... that as the new reality becomes "normal" the feeling of disappearing diminished and then it disappeared itself. I also work to keep the memories - and stories, and gratitude - alive.
Love the video idea!
Stories work well too - I've seen Mom's eyes light up at even a brief story about Dad - especially ones she hasn't heard, or hasn't heard from me - always a different take depending on the storyteller.
I think her feeling of "disappearing" will pass after a time. At some point I think she's likely to start feeling him close again : )
