Dad's MRI is finished & Carol & I are waiting with him in recovery.
Dad was awake & alert during the MRI. Because of his bent head &
tendency toward sleep apnea, sedation was too risky. So they focused on
keeping his pain under control. The head nurse wasn't sure if they'd be
able to get all of the scans done before Dad's pain & discomfort got too
intense.
Fortunately the MRI technicians were wizards & were able to scan Dad's
whole back. They did it faster than we expected and Dad's pain was
manageable. He's very pleased that it went so well.
Dad will see his pain management specialist on Oct 12th for follow up on
his steroid shot & a treatment plan based on the MRI results.
