Over the years I've seen many references to the 'New York' mix of Relax
[it's in all the Discographies as the 2nd version of the UK 12"], but I've
yet to see or hear one! Various individuals, and the record company
themselves, have confused the issue over the years by mixing up the mix
names for Relax, but these are, I believe, the accepted ones:
1) Sex Mix : 16.24 - Tho original (and rare) UK 12"
2) New York Mix : 8.20 - An edited version of the Sex Mix on UK 12" (and
even rarer)
3) US Mix : 7.20 - The standard long mix that most of us bought on 12" and
are familiar with. So called, I think, because this was the 12" version
the Americans got!
4) Cassingle Mix : 16.39 - The UK cassette single mix. Although about the
same length, totally different to the Sex mix. [Sounds to me like a
different 'front', with new vocals and 'stop - starts', edited in front of
the 'US' mix].
I myself have:
1) [On "Twelve Inches" UK CD]
3) [The standard 12" from the shops in 1984] and
4) [UK cassette single]
but 2) remains elusive. It was supposed to be Track 6 on the UK CD Single
reissue in 1993, but although labelled as such on the CD and track listing,
it's actually the US Mix. I saw somewhere that it was on the German
version of "Twelve Inches", but it turns out from a recent discography that
maybe it's not.
So can anyone please confirm that is exists?
